There are several great reasons why a company should use the internet as the backbone for software systems. There versatility provided by the internet allows companies to operate remotely and to reach a diverse user base. This can be much cheaper than integrated networks. You can also provide data over the web much more effectively. I recently discovered this whilst investigating an internet based hr system which appeared to be the best way to go to integrate the needs of several offices.
