Buzzing sound that causes headache

When I asked father who has severe hearing loss that why he does not use hearing aids, He says when he turns it up so that he could hear what people are saying, the buzzing sound causes him headache. He says that the buzzing sound comes from the nerve. He could understand me when I sit close to him and speak in our native language. His life becomes very lonely due to this.
