Worm Farms Help Keep Childrens Brains Working

Friday, January 2nd, 2009

In the world of a child’s brain, things make more sense if they are entertained and given something that is awe inspiring to process. With kids intrigue is a great glue for adhering new concepts into their impressionable brains. Kids seem to have a fascination for “worms”, and Worm Farms are a great way to teach kids about how compost works. With our world needing a good natural way to break down organic waste, compost is the best way to go about it. In the next generation we will need more people setting up home based compost piles to help control the overflow. Kids learning about the worms and how they convert organic waste into nutrients for the soil, this is a great first step!

A great deal

Saturday, December 20th, 2008

A few weeks ago I noticed that my lawn mower really had seen better days and that I really had to go and buy a new one. I decided to take the advice of the salesman in the local gardening center and he told me that one of the best things I could do was buy a Neuton Mower, because they really have a lot of features and really help you do the job very easily. I decided to take the lawn mowed there and then and I’m really glad I did because it is a great little mower.

Making A Gray Wigglers’ Home

Sunday, August 10th, 2008

When moving gray wigglers into a new home, their bedding is a little different than other worm farms you may have had before. It is suggested to set up their bedding so that it is more coarse and dense than normal.
Gray wigglers prefer moist beds. They also like to be left alone, to eat and do their thing. Their bedding should be made up of one-third each of leaf mulch, top soil, and manure. This type of bedding works especially well. Gray wigglers really enjoy leaf and grass clippings.
Keeping their bedding moist and filled with sufficient clippings will keep your wigglers happy. Turn the bedding about once a month to allow air flow to the beds. Other than that, they prefer, and require, as little interaction as possible.

A great name

Tuesday, July 22nd, 2008

Whenever I choose a product I always like to stick with products that have names that I know because I feel the time say for buying the product in this way. When I came to buy a new lawnmower last month I decided to choose Husqvarna lawnmowers as the brand of choice because I had heard good things about this brand. I can honestly say that I have not been disappointed with my lawnmower and it has done a great job of keeping my garden in very good shape.

Opt for commercial fence with vinyl coating

Friday, June 13th, 2008

Fences, whether for personal or commercial use, can be very high-priced in terms of installation, repair and maintenance. For that reason vinyl is preferred to be used as commercial as well as personal fence system. The vinyl coating on these fences makes them long lasting, cost effective and stylish. It turns sharp edges into soft textures, so that the kids or pets don’t get injured. The Commercial Fence in chain link fence system is available in numerous sizes like 4 feet, 5 feet, 8 feet, 10 feet, etc. They are available in a variety of colors also, beginning from galvanized steel color to any bright color to match with your landscape. It is due to the vinyl coating. It won’t rot, deform or damage with extreme weather conditions.

Backyard Bird Garden By Default

Wednesday, May 21st, 2008

I have a mate who to my surprise turns out to be an avid bird watcher. He has got the binoculars, books and the whole works for bird watching. He can sit for hours in a remote place and just watch birds. He was at my place the other day and he was fascinated by all the birds in my backyard. You could say i have a backyard bird gardens by default, with no effort on my part whatsoever. Birds of all varieties come and go in large numbers in the area I live. For me the backyard is for playing cricket and footy but to my mate it's about watching the birds. The biggest attraction for the birds to my yard is an old plum tree. They come in droves and dive into the plums and the bugs on the tree I guess. Oh well, it keeps my mate happy.

Garden greenhouses on a budget

Wednesday, January 30th, 2008

Mother always brought me down to earth whenever enthusiastic planning was in full swing. However I am thankful to her for sketching Garden Greenhouses on a budget. The aim is to control and pests and diseases and extreme hot and humid conditions while producing tropical vegetables in winter. If managed properly the greenhouse can bring in profits. It turns un-arable land into an arable paradise. When my mother helped me to look at what was needed I found I could build the greenhouse for much less than I had anticipated, which left me with more money to buy plants to get started with.

Don’t Open Up A Can Of Garden Worms

Friday, January 4th, 2008

I was shopping the other day at the plant nursery where I saw a huge container full of worms. They were all crawling over one another and that really terrified me. I was told that they were garden worms and that many people eagerly came to buy them. The shop owner further explained to me how these garden worms helped to make the best fertilizers.  I heard his explanations carefully and ended up buying a can of worms for my garden. Now I am a worm woman.

Hanging Your Portable Hammock

Wednesday, November 28th, 2007

Hanging portable hammocks takes a little practice. You’ll want to experiment to find the right place on the porch or in the garden, in at least partial shade - no one wants to get sunburn in a hammock. The correct distance between the two supports should be 2 1/2 to 3 feet greater than the length of the hammock’s bed, according to Happy Land, sales manager for the Original Pawleys Island Rope Hammock. For a 12-foot hammock, you’ll need two trees or posts about 15 feet apart. To hang a hammock, you’ll need rope or hardware, usually provided when you buy your hammock. Hammocks should be attached to trees with a clove hitch in a good length of rope, although a couple of half hitches are commonly used.
