The evolution of the Erp software application started from the early 1970s. The erp software application as we know it today has its roots in Material Requirement Planning and Manufacturing Resource Planning (MRP II).
Erp applications were developed because there was a need to integrate all the functions in an organization, instead of having one application for accounting, another for payroll and yet a third for invoicing and distribution.
The latest development in Erp is Erp II. Erp II considers not just the internal working of the organization but also views the organization as an extended enterprise.
