Video Game Testing: What Is Soak Testing?
Soaking is a type of video game testing that is really seen as a lazy person’s job. It doesn’t require putting forth much effort. Is it any wonder then why this type of testing is generally done by a lead tester rather than a lower level (lower paid) tester. After the test is set in motion, the game practically tests itself. To do this testing, the game is left alone and running in an “on” mode for a period of time. It may be in idle, it may be paused, or in another operating mode. This vedio game testing is used to find leaks in the memory of the game or any errors that may surface over prolonged playing of the game.
